Japanese Media Response reported on April 4 that most of the cats on Tashirojima (cat island) have survived.

Tsuyoshi from Japan visited the island and took photos and videos last week. He saw quite a few cats there. Though most of the cats survived, he noticed there was a slight decrease in the number of cats, but it's possible that some cats have moved to a higher location due to tsunami. "The islanders are very kind. They feed the cats everyday just like their families," says Tsuyoshi. Their meals contain fish, eggs and some rice.

"Most people and houses are OK, but the fishing facilities near the port have been severely damaged," Tsuyoshi adds. They are still experiencing power outage, but other than that people's spirit is good.
