A tortie cat came up to a young woman and her co-worker, asking for help. They noticed her pregnant belly and knew that she was looking for a safe shelter.
She was abandoned in the neighborhood and never wanted to get close to any humans, but this time she wanted help and they couldn't say no.
They took her in and noticed something quite special about her-- her bobtail. "I had never really seen a bobtail until I took in the pregnant one behind my work," reddit user slowkidsplaying said.
Having never helped an expectant mama cat through labor, they were a bit nervous and tried to research before the day came. They prepared a birthing box for her, but mama had a different idea.
Three days ago, the tortie gave birth to five adorable babies. "She preferred the corner to the birthing box we had set up for her."
The first kitten out was a mini version of mama. The only difference is that she was born with a tail.
The second baby was a beautiful black kitten, a tiny ball of fur.
Once mama had her third baby, they immediately noticed the bobtail just like his mom!
When mama had her 4th baby, it was a tiny torbie (mixed of tabby and tortie) with gorgeous markings.
When they thought mama was done, two hours later, here came the last baby, the runt. The tiny tabby immediately joined the kittens at the milk bar for his first feed.
"She's been letting us pick each one up and pet them and everything. She used to not let anyone within 4 feet of herself and now she's kneading and purring while I'm petting her and her kittens. It's great."
They have fallen in love with the mama and she's found her forever home with her rescuer. The kittens will go to good homes once they are big enough. "They are all extremely healthy and mom did a wonderful job."
