A kind-hearted woman saw the kitten lying outside all alone. After waiting for the cat mother but to no avail, she picked her up and drove an hour to the rescue group in Montréal so the kitten could get the help she desperately needed.

Kiwi was a little over a week old, but only weighed 160 grams (5.6oz). She was treated for an eye infection and placed in foster care so she could be looked after around the clock.

"Her development was slow. Kiwi had to be syringe fed as she had trouble eating," the rescue shared with Love Meow.

Over the next few days, despite having a demanding feeding schedule, Kiwi didn't grow at all. Her condition was very worrying. Foster mom, Erica, was determined to help the little one get bigger and stronger.

With supplements, feeding every couple of hours and countless sleepless nights, Kiwi began to come around.

During her first 15 weeks, Kiwi grew very slowly due to her sensitive stomach.

At six weeks, she weighed a mere 380 grams (13oz).

With the best veterinary care they could provide, Kiwi began to show signs of improvement at three months old. Though she still required more treatment and supplements, she was on the mend.

Kiwi reached 620grams (21.8oz) at three months old. Her cattitude was shining through.

It was a long journey with a lot of hard work. Finally at four months old, Kiwi had a more stable growth spurt and started to put on weight more consistently.

She went from being unable to eat on her own to now eating like a champ independently.

The sweet girl loves everyone she meets and offers them snuggles.

Despite being very petite, Kiwi is just as playful and curious as any other kitten.

Kiwi is now six months old, weighing at 3.3lb (1.5kg).

"She is still a mini kitten, but she is plump, her hair is shiny and you can't feel her bones any more," the rescue said.

"She is very sweet and likes to snuggle in her foster mom's arms and the crook of her neck. She never leaves her side.

"Kiwi had quite a difficult journey during the first three months of her life. Her foster mom hand-reared her every day and night, making sure she would not decline. They became very attached to each other."

Last Sunday, Kiwi was officially adopted to none other than her foster mom who fell in love with her on the day they met.

Kiwi will remain a small kitty for the rest of her life but she is so happy to have found her forever loving home.
