A man heard meows coming from a nearby basement and later came out with a tiny kitten in his arms.

Sam, who had just returned from exploring caves, heard a cat meowing from an abandoned basement on his block. Without hesitation, he went in to investigate.
As he traced the source of the meows, he noticed a tiny ball of fur, no bigger than a small loaf of bread, toddling about. As he approached the kitten, her cry for help grew louder. "We think she was born there, and her mom was weaning her, but she was too tiny to figure out how to get out of the basement," Delilah, Sam's friend, shared with Love Meow.
At only four weeks old and three-quarters of a pound, the kitten, Umami, was determined to thrive.

Thanks to her rescuer, Sam, she was safely scooped out of the basement. With no sign of the mother cat, Delilah contacted her rescue, Whiskers-a-GoGo, and with their support, she welcomed Umami into her home as her 49th foster.

Within days, she transformed into the ultimate lap cat, wriggling happily, hugging her foster mom's leg, and bursting with joy. "She loves noisy toys, has a bottomless appetite, and wants to be wherever you are."
Every week, she grew bigger, stronger, and sillier than ever.

After darting around the room and playing to her heart's content, she'd eventually tuck herself in her foster mom's hoodie, seeking that perfect cozy spot. For all the fun the toys and space could offer, nothing compared to the joy of cuddling up with her human.
She makes the sweetest sidekick, brimming with confidence and acting like she's got the world all figured out.

Once she was ready to explore the house and meet the resident animals, she claimed every corner as her own. Despite her tiny size, she strutted around like she was in charge, and her presence filled every room.
She climbed onto the couch and instantly proclaimed it as her throne.

Now that she feels safe and loved, she's truly blossomed. She likes racing after her toys, wrestling them with all her might. With her adventurous, intrepid spirit, she explores every nook and cranny and tackles anything that crosses her path.
