Two tabby-and-white cats are devoted brothers who were abandoned together on a rescue doorstep. Big brother makes sure you never pet just one of them.

The brothers arrived most suddenly, left on the doorstep of Abandoned Pet Rescue one day last year. It was an uncertain beginning for the bonded pair, but they had landed with people ready to give them everything they needed, including the one thing that mattered most: the chance to stay together.

From the moment they came into care, it was clear Stinker and Peanut were a devoted duo. They are both big boys with big hearts, and they absolutely love to be doted on.

Their rescuers have delighted in getting to know each of them, because there is plenty to love about both.

Stinker is the bigger of the two, a sweet and affectionate fellow who adores nothing more than attention from his favorite people, and he is especially fond of a good chin and back scratch.

Even when the attention is going to someone else, he finds a way in. “If you’re giving his brother, Peanut, some love, Stinker will mosey on over and gently nudge your hand, as if to say, ‘Don’t forget me!’” Abandoned Pet Rescue shared with LoveMeow.

“While he may be a little greedy when it comes to getting attention, it’s only because he has so much love to give,” the rescue shared.

And for all his wish to be the center of things, Stinker absolutely adores his brother. He can often be found grooming Peanut, patient and gentle, the bigger brother looking after the smaller one.

The pure bliss on Peanut’s face whenever Stinker licks his cheek is too precious to miss. One brother grooms, the other melts, and the whole room goes quiet watching it.

It is the clearest picture of who these two are together. Whatever uncertainty they arrived with, they have always had each other.

Watch them for even a minute, and the bond speaks for itself. Stinker settles in to groom, Peanut leans into every lick, and the two of them fold together into one content tangle of fur.

This is how they spend their quiet hours, side by side, looking after one another. It is a devotion that is a joy to witness, and it is the heart of their whole story.

Peanut is a bit more shy and takes some time to warm up, but he is every bit as loving once he knows you. He asks for affection with the sweetest little nudges, and scratches on his head and chin are his absolute favorite.

With his pretty blue eyes and a little pink nose, this gentle boy is adorable, and his trust is well worth the wait. He needs only a patient hand, and he gives his whole heart in return.

Peanut has also been diagnosed with diabetes, which means a special diet and insulin twice a day. It sounds daunting, but there is wonderful news that takes the worry out of it.

Peanut qualifies for Abandoned Pet Rescue’s Medical Adoption Program, which means all of his veterinary care will be provided through the rescue for the rest of his life. Beyond his twice-daily insulin and his special food, his days look like any other happy cat’s, and his future family can focus only on loving him.

The bond between them is the heart of everything. Stinker and Peanut are happiest when they are together, and they love nothing more than curling up in one huge, warm bundle of adorable kitty goodness.

They are a true pair, full of love and easy companionship. Where one of them settles, the other is never far behind.

Every bit of the comfort they enjoy today is thanks to the dedicated team at Abandoned Pet Rescue, a no-kill shelter in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They took in two abandoned boys and have cared for them with patience and devotion.

They have made sure this bonded pair stays together, because splitting up two brothers who have only ever had each other was never on the table.

Their bond is not all quiet grooming and naps, either. When one of them finds a toy worth chasing or a warm patch of floor worth claiming, the other turns up a moment later, and the two of them end up tangled in the same game or stretched out in the same sunny corner.

Stinker and Peanut were left on a doorstep together last May, and they have been inseparable every day since. For two brothers who have only ever had each other, being apart was never going to be an option.
