A senior ginger cat is desperately trying to comfort his shy and reserved 16-year-old sister after they were surrendered to the shelter.
Meet Spiffy and Henri Etta!
The two bonded felines came to Purrfect Pals Cat Shelter (Arlington, Washington) after they were turned into a public facility. Their family wasn't able to take them along when they were moving.
"At 16 years old these lovely kitties are understandably scared, confused and sad. The volunteers are doing all they can to make them feel loved and secure and give them lots of attention but it's just not the same as being in a home with their very own people," Purrfect Pals told Love Meow.
This inseparable pair has always lived together. They are each other's security blanket.
"Spiffy is a dignified, mature ginger boy and the more social of the two. Spiffy happily seeks out people when he's ready for a cuddle and a chat and can even be enticed into a cat of laser tag."
He stays by his sister's side purring and comforting her as she buries her face in the cat bed.
"Henri Etta is a gentle, shy, senior torbie girl who is loving and affectionate when she feels secure. She finds comfort in being with her brother, is the more reserved of the pair, but given a little time and TLC, she'll ask for pets and snuggles.
"These kitties need to get out of the shelter, out of the cage and into a home full of loving kindness, soft, warm beds, puddles of sunshine to lounge in and good food," Purrfect Pals said.
Henri Etta looked up for a brief moment and went back to find security in her blanket.
At their age, the two feline siblings are remarkably healthy.
"They both have some arthritis in their hips, but that just means they won't be jumping on the kitchen counters or climbing the drapes like the kittens."

Spiffy and Henri Etta have been adopted!
Danielle (their new mom) came to the shelter to pick them up.
Henri Etta was a bit shy hiding underneath. Spiffy was there by her side.
On their way to their forever loving home!
