A woman stopped traffic on the highway to save a tiny kitten. Later, her foster cat decided to raise the kitten as her own.

Laura, a dedicated foster volunteer with Catz 4 Life, was on her way to the vet when she found herself in an unexpected rescue mission.
As she got onto the highway, she noticed something in the distance. "I wondered, 'Is that a squirrel or some kind of animal?'" Laura told Love Meow. As she slowed down and saw the unmistakable tiny cat ears, her instincts kicked in.
She made a stop, turned on her hazard lights, and rushed toward the kitten.

Drivers around her slowed down to give her space. They cheered and applauded as she returned to her car with the tiny bundle in her arms. "When I picked her up, she was tiny—she didn't even weigh 1.5 pounds. Her eye and nose were bleeding, and she was in complete shock."
Laura cradled the kitten to her chest, doing her best to soothe her as they continued on to the vet.

"When I held her in the car, I felt she was going to be okay. I wrapped her in a blanket and took her straight to the vet. It was just a matter of seconds, maybe minutes, before someone would have run her over if I hadn't stopped."
She named the kitten Lala, a nickname Laura's family often calls her, which felt just right.

Lala spent the rest of the day at the vet, receiving treatment, nourishment, and plenty of TLC from the staff. Despite her ordeal, she had a strong appetite and an even stronger will to live.
"She didn't have any lasting injuries from her misadventures, just superficial cuts and some stories to tell by the litter box."

Once Lala had fully recovered, her adventurous side emerged. She followed her foster mom from room to room and "helped" her make the bed. "For such a tiny kitten, she's incredibly brave, curious, and independent."
Knowing Lala would benefit from a feline friend, Laura introduced her to Mama Sunflower and her kittens.

Sunflower, a rescue herself, welcomed Lala instantly, grooming and nurturing her as if she were one of her own. Her kittens followed their mother's lead, embracing Lala into their crew. "She's lucky to have a mama cat who adopted her and cared for her (so deeply)."
"Thanks to her adopted siblings, she became much more playful."

Lala quickly found her favorite places in the house. She loved curling up in bed with Laura and the kittens, basking in sunbeams on the cat tree, and scaling every tall scratching post she could find.
"She also enjoys playing with a feather wand toy and is super curious about any food you bring—she wants to sniff everything."

In just a few short weeks, Lala has blossomed into a confident, happy, and thoroughly pampered indoor kitten.
Not long after Lala was found, Laura learned from another rescue that Lala had likely fallen from a car engine—explaining how she ended up on the highway. By a stroke of fate, Laura was in the right place at the right time.

With Mama Sunflower by her side and her feline siblings as playmates, Lala is thriving. She's learning, growing, and soaking up every bit of love around her.
And soon, she'll be ready for the next step—finding a forever home that will love her as fiercely as she deserves.
