Nala the rescue cat had to travel 2 states while she was heavily pregnant so that she and her babies could have a second chance at life.

She delivered 6 kittens when she finally found a safe place.

"We got Nala from a high kill shelter 2 states away. She was very pregnant and no one any closer would help her. A transport chain was arranged to get Nala to (Here Kitty Kitty Rescue in) Indiana. Our biggest concern was that Nala would go into labor during the long trip! We had Nala a few days and she was showing no signs of labor," Jennifer Adams Gillispie of Here Kitty Kitty Rescue told Love Meow.

"One morning, we went to run errands. We were only gone 2 hours and came home and found Nala had had 6 kittens. They were all very tiny, especially the only girl. The little girl only weighed 2 1/2 oz. Nala had 3 buff kittens and 3 Orange kittens. We watched the babies very closely the first few days, weighing them every day. Much to everyone's relief all 6 kittens are steadily gaining weight."

Nala is around 1 1/2 to 2 years old. "She was found as a stray, so she probably did not have much to eat while the babies were developing. We only had her about 1 week before the babies were born."

The kittens were doing well despite being very tiny.

Nala was very dedicated to her babies. She barely took any breaks.

After traveling 2 states, Nala found a safe place for her kittens. She's happy and content.
