A kitten followed other cats to a house. Once indoors, he turned into a happy little "retriever."

Last winter, Zack, a beautiful black kitten, followed a group of strays onto a woman's patio in search of food.
Concerned for their safety, the woman managed to catch them one by one and reached out to her local rescue, Chatons Orphelins Montreal, for help. Zack and the rest of the strays were brought to the rescue, escaping the harsh elements and dangers of the outdoors.
Hungry and scared, Zack huddled in a corner, trying to decompress. It didn't take long before his true self began to shine.

After receiving the care he needed, the kitten was placed in a foster home where he could learn how to be a proper house cat. Despite having no prior human contact, the abundance of food and love soon helped his walls come down.
"Zack settled into his foster home, where he met confident, playful kitties. They showed him the ropes and helped him come out of his shell," the rescue shared.

He became part of the feline crew, following them on all their adventures and doing his best to match their boundless energy. After romping around like tiny whirlwinds, they would curl up together in a cat tree to nap and recharge.
"He's truly embraced his new life indoors. Even though the bed is too small for all the kitties, he finds a way to squeeze in."

Within a few weeks, Zack blossomed into a spirited young cat with a vibrant personality. With the help of his feline friends, he came to realize that humans could be kind and grew to enjoy their company.
Over time, he became fond of them, especially when they played his favorite game of fetch.

"He loves to hunt for his toys, proudly carrying them around in his mouth. He's happiest when we take the time to play with him."
Whenever his foster mom tosses a toy, he sprints after it and faithfully brings it back. He is incredibly nimble and quick, and he always drops the toy at her feet, looking up at her expectantly for the next throw.

He has an adorable habit of dunking his toy into the water bowl to give it a little "wash" before bringing it back. Once he's satisfied that it's "clean," he trots over to his foster mom, eager to repeat the game all over again.
Zack parades through the house with his toy clutched in his mouth as if he's displaying his most cherished prize.

"He's naturally curious, observing everything from a distance. But as soon as we sit on the couch, he comes over to see what we're up to and nudges us for some scratches behind his ears. He purrs when we cuddle him, loves belly rubs, and has a baby-like personality."
Above all, Zack is a feline retriever at heart and never grows tired of fetching toys with his humans.

After spending months in foster care, Zack has flourished into a majestic house panther with adorable extra toes (polydactyl).
"He has big thumbs, and he loves to lounge on top of the cat tree by the window, spying on the birds outside."
