A 3-week-old stray kitten was found wandering the streets, looking for his mom but she was nowhere to be found.
He was brought to a shelter in Montréal, Canada but they didn't have the resources to care for the young kitten. They reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montréal and asked if they could take him in.
The rescue agreed and rushed to pick him up. While the kitten was at the vet, a volunteer, Danielle, offered to foster him so the kitty could have someone to socialize him and care for him around the clock.
They named the little tabby Spirou.
The kitten had to stay at the veterinary clinic for two nights to receive the medical attention he needed.
Staff took turns to spend time with him as the tabby boy constantly demanded their attention and didn't want to be alone. (Scroll down for video)
No one knows how he ended up wandering the streets alone, but the little kitten purred instantly when being held.
He knew he was safe and loved.
After he was clear medically, Danielle came to pick him up. Little Spirou immediately meowed when he saw his foster mom, and threw himself into her arms as if to say he was ready to go.
He refused to be in the carrier so he stayed on Danielle's lap and cuddled throughout the entire trip home.
The kitty quickly grew very attached to his foster mom. From day one, he was very vocal about what he wanted - constant attention and cuddles.
Since Danielle brought him home, he hasn't left her side.
In three weeks, the kitten has doubled in weight. He's starting to eat solid food and getting very playful.
"He will keep calling his foster mom until she picks him up and holds him. He always wants her attention and is very affectionate," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal told Love Meow.
Danielle keeps him in her hoodie so the kitten can stay close to her and be carried around the house.
At six weeks old, Spirou has graduated from bottle feeding and learned to eat on his own, though he needs a thorough face cleaning after every meal.
"He likes to run around and play with anything that moves, but he is never far from his foster mom so he can jump into her arms for hugs anytime he wants."
