Two tiny kittens survived an ordeal, unscathed while being trapped in a crushed old truck for days without food or water. The mother cat built a nest in the truck under a pickup seat. It was so hidden that the workers were not able to find any lives in the truck while they were conducting their routine check before turning on a crusher to smash it. The truck was positioned at the bottom of a stack of nine vehicles that were strapped down to be transported to Schnitzer Steal in Anchorage for metel recycling.

2 days later, the owner's brother of Alaska Car Crushing on Vine Road west of Wasilla, detected a faint sound of cat cries while operating a machinery. He turned off the engine and the meowing became more pronounced. He immediately alarmed other workers to assist him to trace the origin of the sound. After an hour of unloading, ripping and digging, they finally located the kittens under the pickup seat.

Though the two little kittens went on without food and water for 2 days, they are lucky to have evaded the metal recycling plant where all the metal will be crushed and shredded into smithereens.

The kittens have been named Crush and Smash for surviving the trial. They have been adopted by Shirash Roth at Schnitzer in Anchorage.
