We rescued a tiny stray from a rescue shelter 8 weeks ago, presumed age around 10 wks old. Since coming home she has only put on around 500 grams. She is bright and happy and playful and eats well. At first her hair was really oily and she was visibly underweight. I took her to my vet, who said she was much older than we thought because she had many of her adult teeth, including canines (kitten canines still present also). The vet at the rescue shelter thought she may have worms so re-wormed her. After that she did start to put on weight, and she now looks much healthier and her hair now looks glossy, not oily. She has also been desexed. However, she remains tiny - 1.5kg, and just does not seem to really be growing bigger. She is definitely not a tiny breed.
Is this unusual? My cats in the past have always been medium to large, and I am not sure what to expect with my tiny Phoebe. I don't care if she stays small, as long as she is happy and healthy, with no ill effects from her size.
