After losing her longtime guardian, Marty Wolf, the beautiful gray and white cat found herself in a shelter, quiet, unsure of what was to come next. Then, surprisingly, she becomes a loving shadow of her new Foster.

The home she’d grown comfortable in, the person she’d curled up beside was gone. With little information about her history and nowhere to go, she was surrendered to an at-risk shelter, where her future suddenly looked very uncertain. Thankfully, the rescue Little Wanderers NYC stepped in at the last moment and pulled her from the brink, giving her a second chance she so richly deserved.

At first, Marty Wolf did what any cat in her situation would do - she went quiet; new sights, new sounds, new people. Without the context of her past life to make sense of it all, she moved through the shelter cautiously, taking everything in with wide, watchful eyes. She wasn’t aggressive. She simply needed time and a little grace.

Then came Rohan.
A volunteer foster opened his home and welcomed Marty Wolf in, not knowing quite what to expect. When a cat has been labeled fearful or shut down, it can be hard to imagine who she might become on the other side of that fear. But Marty Wolf didn’t keep anyone guessing for long.

“She has honestly surprised me in the best way,” Rohan shared.
Within just a couple of hours of arriving at her foster home, something remarkable happened. Marty Wolf began to exhale. She rolled on the floor. She followed her foster from room to room. She peeked around corners with bright, curious eyes. It wasn’t a slow, reluctant thaw; it was as if she had been waiting for the right time to let herself be known.

“She is cautious and takes in her surroundings, but she has not been aggressive at all,: shares her foster. “She is incredibly sweet and much more affectionate than expected. “
These days, Marty Wolf has a full life of favorite things. Churro treats rank high on the list, alongside catnip mice and an enthusiastic relationship with the laser pointer, though she’s already figured out that the beam comes from a flashlight; nothing can get past Marty Wolf.

She has become Rohan's little shadow, padding behind him through the house as if she’s always lived there.

What makes Marty Wolf’s story so special isn't that she survived; it’s what she revealed once she felt safe. The cat described as fearful and withdrawn in the shelter turned out to be curious, affectionate, and deeply social. She didn’t need to be fixed. She needed stability. She needed someone to be patient. She needed a room to decompress, a person to trail after, and maybe a churro treat or two.
Thanks to the amazing volunteers at Little Wanderers NYC, Marty Wolf now has a second chance at life.

Through losing her home, navigating the unknown, and learning to trust all over again, Marty Wolf has proven just how resilient and loving she truly is. Now, this curious little shadow is ready for the next chapter. A warm room to explore, a person to trail from room to room, and a spot by the window that is finally, truly hers. All she needs now is the right person to walk through the door.
