A good Samaritan brought a stray cat to Anne Arundel County Animal Control in Millersville, Maryland. The staff instantly fell in love.

The friendly stray came with an enormous belly. "Chloe, a tiny 9-month-old, very pregnant stray cat, won the hearts of the AACAC staff and volunteers with her calm demeanor and adorable manners," Friends of AACAC wrote.

"Shortly before she seemed ready to give birth, however, Chloe tested very faintly positive for a serious communicable cat disease, which made it very difficult to find her a foster or rescue group. Because the test results were not definitive, Friends of Anne Arundel County Animal Control paid for Chloe to get an expensive but more accurate test as well as confirm that she was indeed pregnant and not bloated with fluid."

The happy results: Chloe was perfectly healthy and pregnant with 6 babies.

Chloe loves the shelter staff and enjoys walking on a leash with them. "She walks on a leash better than many dogs; in fact, she followed the staff around even when not leashed."

She gave birth Tuesday night to five healthy babies. One kitten fought hard but didn't make it.

The furry family has left with an experienced SPCA foster. "But not before doing one more circuit of AACAC to say goodbye to all her many friends on the staff."
