A group of students from Utah State University are committed to bringing down the population of feral cats in the city through their trap-neuter-return program as an alternative to the city funded euthanization program where most of the animals put down are cats.

Logan city funds $30,000 each year for their program to house and enthuanize abandoned or roaming animals. Early this year, the city drafted a new proposal to enforce cat registration and licensing fees in order to raise more funds for the program. In opposing the propsal, students from the university-sponsored Aggie Cats group is pleading to suspend the program and let them help take control over the feral population.

The issue will be reviewed again by the city council later on this September.
