A very scrawny stray cat who weighs a measly 5 lbs, is all smiles when he is given a place to call home.

Last Thursday evening, Karyn Poplin of Kitty Adventure Rescue League & Sanctuary saw an urgent plea on Facebook searching for help for a cat that wandered into a neighborhood. "I didn't really need to see anymore than this first photo before I knew I had to help," Karyn said.

It's a mystery as to how this emaciated cat wound up on the streets and how long he had been fending for himself.

"We know he was someone's pet at some time. Unsure if he just had a string of bad luck or if someone dumped him off. He was never claimed by his owners and he was not microchipped, so we took him in," Karyn told Love Meow.

Wallace is between 8-10 years old, missing a few teeth and barely weighing 5 lbs. "He is 100% legs! He's so tall!"

When they were at the vet's office, Wallace was purring and smiling the entire time. "He's got a motor on him! He was SO happy to have someone pay some attention to him," Karyn told Love Meow.

Wallace finally had his belly full for the first time in a long while. He purred the loudest purrs when they gave him a bowl of food.

"We have a positive outlook for his recovery. No kitty should be this skinny!"

It's been almost a week since Wallace moved into his forever loving home. He's looking so much better and has even made a new best friend. "His roommate is 20 year old Oswald and they get along just fine. Wallace takes the window and Oswald takes the very coveted plush beds."

He perks up every time he sees his humans, always wanting head scratches.

Wallace has found his favorite perching spot by the window. He's got some lunch on his face, and he's proud :).

A little bit of chicken and cheese for treats make Wallace the happiest kitty in the world.
