A pregnant cat found wandering an apartment complex alone got the help she needed just in time. What came next was a litter full of personality and a story no one saw coming.

When neighbors at a local apartment complex noticed a pregnant cat making her way through the property with nowhere to go, they could not look the other way.
They contacted Coastal Bend Cat Rescue (CBCR), and the cat, soon to be named Font, was brought into a foster home just in time. She was calm and gentle from the moment she arrived, as if she had always known this was exactly where she was supposed to be.
Not long after settling in, Font went into labor. She delivered five orange boys, one after another, each one determined to make his presence known from the very first breath.

Heartbreak came quietly alongside the joy. The smallest of the five, a little one named Wingding, was half the size of his brothers and despite every effort to help him along, he did not make it. He passed peacefully, held close by his foster mom, warm and never alone.
The four who remained wasted no time. They were hungry, growing, and full of opinions.

Goudy Stout, the firstborn, arrived with a flair for the dramatic and a very literal interpretation of his name. He also came with a surprise: extra toes on every single paw. Stencil, orange and white and absolutely certain of his importance, set his sights immediately on building the roundest belly possible.
Comic Sans discovered early on that going completely limp after a full feeding was an excellent way to send his foster mom into a panic. And Ravie, who needed a helping hand in those first tender days, quietly proved that with a little extra support, he could do anything his brothers could do.

Font presided over all of it with steady, unhurried devotion. She nursed and cleaned and watched over her boys with the kind of calm authority that only a mama cat fully in her element can manage. "Mama Font was an excellent mama, and took great care of her babies.
Mary Huckabee, a CBCR officer, told Love Meow. “With excellent care from mom, her kittens grew into sweet, chunky fluffs.”
Then the story added one more character.

A lawn care crew discovered a tiny orange kitten hidden in a bush while out on a job. He was barely a week old and completely alone. Coastal Bend Cat Rescue collected him from Animal Care Services and named him Harrington, Harry for short. He was smaller than Font's boys and behind on every milestone, but the rescue had a feeling about him. They believed he belonged with Font's litter.
They were right.

Font accepted Harry without a moment's hesitation. She pulled him in, and he tucked himself alongside Goudy Stout, Stencil, Comic Sans, and Ravie as naturally as if he had been there from the beginning. The rescue smiled and said she never even noticed the “typo.”
Five orange brothers, one extraordinary mama, and a foster home that somehow got even fuller and warmer overnight.

The boys grew fast. Their eyes opened, their personalities sharpened, and their confidence grew with every passing day. When The Cattery, a cage-free shelter for cats, reached out and offered to welcome them ahead of schedule, it was clear this little crew was ready for the next chapter.
Font is ready for hers too.

She poured herself into her boys from the very first day, and now it is her turn to be spoiled. Somewhere out there is a forever family with her name on it.
“Now she can live her best life baby free and will be able to enjoy some good times when she meets her forever family.”
