A kitten spotted alone in the rain has not only survived but blossomed and found the cat buddy she didn't know she needed.

Two months ago, a social media post went out pleading for help for a small kitten found outside, without a mother or siblings.
Timid and wary, the kitten bolted into hiding. By the time help arrived, she had vanished. The next day brought heavy rain, and she was spotted again, huddled against the sidewalk of a bridge, soaked to the skin.
Curled into a ball, she leaned against the curb for support as traffic roared past.

A kind-hearted woman rushed to the kitten's rescue. When she arrived, she saw cars whizzing by the helpless little one, but no one stopped to help.
"The kitten was huddled on the edge of the sidewalk and didn't know where to go, so she stayed curled up in the rain next to two cigarette butts," Celine of Chatons Orphelins Montreal shared with Love Meow.

When the rescuer reached down to lift her from the wet pavement, the kitten hissed with all her might—the only defense she could muster. "She could have been hit by a car or fallen off the bridge at any moment. Luckily, one person took action to help her."
Volunteers quickly came together, arranging transport to bring the kitten to Chatons Orphelins Montreal. It took a network of caring people to get her to safety.

They affectionately named her Kasskroutte after "casse-croute," which means snack in French. She was barely two months old, underweight, dehydrated, and starving. When offered food, she devoured an entire plate until her tiny belly was full. Veterinarians treated her for ear mites and stomach issues, and soon she began to heal.
"She went to her foster home, where she immediately felt comfortable and even started purring."

With nourishing meals and endless affection, Kasskroutte began to gain weight and energy.
"She's enjoying her new life filled with cuddles, playtime, and security. She's so full of life and incredibly endearing. She's always ready to play, chasing feather toys, pouncing on anything that moves, or hunting for springs and hiding them in her secret stash."

When she isn't zipping through the house like a tiny tornado, she can be found curled up in a warm lap, purring herself to sleep.
"She purrs the moment you pick her up. She loves lounging with her people on the couch, and at night, her favorite place to sleep is on the same pillow as her humans, snuggled right against their heads."

She follows her people from room to room and often "helps" on the keyboard when they work. She's not fond of closed doors and insists on being part of whatever they are doing.
"She has a huge need for attention and plenty of energy. She loves to climb and always finds the highest perch to watch what's happening around her."

When Kasskroutte met another foster kitten named Regliss, it was instant chemistry.
They hit it off right away, playing, exploring, and napping together like lifelong friends. "She's so happy to have a companion. She's never bored now. They share everything, even the pillow with their humans at night."

"They love to play together, and when they're tired, they snuggle beside their people for a long, purr-filled nap."
Thanks to a compassionate woman and a group of volunteers, Kasskroutte's life has been forever changed. Today, she races joyfully around the house, has all the food she could ever want, and a best friend to cuddle with constantly.
