A 10-year-old ginger cat showed up on a porch in Ontario, New York. A family saw the feline hanging out with his paws all tucked in. Upon close inspection, they could tell that the kitty needed help.

Meet Buster the cat!

It's a mystery how Buster ended up living a wandering life. The stray cat came to the family's front porch in late October and just sat there, hiding his paws as if he was trying to protect them.

The woman who found him, noticed that his paws were injured and he would need veterinary care. She brought the kitty to Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester so Buster could have a chance at a better life.

Buster was in poor shape — not only because of the distressed, worried look in his eyes, but because every step he took was putting him in pain.

"Buster was suffering from plasmacytic pododermatitis - a condition that left his front paws raw and made walking very painful," Lollypop Farm told Love Meow.

The sweet ginger boy began daily treatments where staff cleaned and dressed his sensitive paws.

Buster was very patient and never complained. He purred up a storm when his caregiver changed his bandages.

"He is gentle and affectionate, and definitely a purrer. His paws are healing very nicely," Lollypop Farm told Love Meow.

Buster was wearing a pair of mittens to protect his paws and help him heal.

After a few weeks of treatments, the tiny mittens finally came off!

"At this point in his healing process, Buster no longer had to wear his mittens constantly. He was wearing a cone, so that he didn't lick or bite his paws.

"Buster did have a habit of removing his mittens, probably because his paws were itchy!"

Today, Buster got his cone off and he felt great!

"His paws are feeling SO much better, and soon, he will be ready to find a family. He celebrated his cone coming off by getting a tuna treat, and lots and lots of pets from our staff," Lollypop Farm told Love Meow.

The sweet ginger boy is loving all the attention and head scratches.

He purrs like thunder when he receives some lovin' from his caregivers.
