A stray cat was found in a rusted out boat by a 10-year-old boy 13 years ago. "I fed him some cheese. Been my best bud ever since," reddit user RRSC14 wrote.
13 years later, they are still together.
Now at 23, he shared his story: "I found Lester when I went to Wildwood NJ for vacation. We had rented a condo and there was an old rusty boat up on a trailer in the middle of a field by the condo complex. That's where he dwelled. I first noticed Lester when I saw him leaping in the tall grass here and there. I finally realized he was hunting and eating the grasshoppers that inhabited the overgrown grass.
He was a friendly little guy so he didn't need much coaxing to approach me so then I fed him some cheese and he followed me inside. I laid on the bed to watch some TV and he curled up on my chest and fell asleep. I was 10 at the time so when my parents came into the room and I immediately shushed them and pointed to my chest where this fist sized kitten was sound asleep they knew we weren't going home without him. The vet diagnosed him with feline Leukemia, apparently it's common in strays who have been out in the world a few weeks. Cats with leukemia are thought to only live to 3-4. But Lester is 13 and still rockin'. Been there my whole adult life and my dad jokes that the cat will outlive him."
Lester is a lovey kitty who sometimes craves attention.
He doesn't really have any personal boundaries.
