A kitten was brought to a pound in need of rescue. A group of volunteers were determined to turn his life around.

About a month ago, a 7-week-old kitten was turned into a pound in Montreal, Canada. He was found alone, just skin and bones and had trouble breathing. The little tabby had a severe case of an upper respiratory infection.

Due to limited resources, they couldn't keep the kitten at the facility. Many volunteers fell in love with the polydactyl kitty and were determined to get him into a rescue group that would be able to nurse him back to health.

They reached out to the rescue community and posted a plea online. Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a local rescue group, quickly responded.

"The kitten was lucky. The group of volunteers tried to get him out of the pound before it was too late. We knew we had to help," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared with Love Meow.

Sue, one of the volunteers, transported the kitten to the rescue group and helped get the little guy started on his new journey.

"He was very tiny, just a bag of bones, but he made it. We named him Murphy."

Murphy was given the medical attention he desperately needed. Amandine, a foster volunteer of the rescue, stepped up to help and welcomed the little guy into her warm abode.

"He quickly adapted to the new environment. Murphy started to heal and quickly showed his playful side. He loves to run and just have fun," Celine told Love Meow.

Over the next few days, his eyes started to clear up and he looked like a kitten again.

After a few vet visits, they noticed that he might be partially deaf, but it doesn't stop him from doing anything just like other kittens.

Murphy also got a haircut after he was treated for lice. After a rough start to life, the little kitty can finally relax and enjoy being loved and pampered.

"He has gained weight and grown quite a lot since."

The sweet tabby is healing well in the comfort of his foster home. When he is not playing or exploring, he meows for cuddle time with his foster family.

"He loves people and other cats — basically everyone he comes across. He loves attention and always wants to play."

In just a few weeks, he has transformed into a gorgeous kitty with bright eyes and unbridled energy.

His extra toes only add to his cuteness.
