A Good Samaritan from Montreal, Canada spotted a tiny ball of fur lying motionless on the sidewalk.

The kitten was all alone and listless. The woman who found her, thought she had passed away. Then suddenly, the kitten moved. She was still alive.

The kind-hearted woman immediately scooped her up and brought her to a veterinary clinic. The kitty was around four weeks old, malnourished, dehydrated and covered in fleas. She was ice-cold and had to be warmed immediately after she arrived. She had lost lots of fur and only weighed 300 grams, the size of a 3-week-old kitten.

They brought her back from the brink in the nick of time. Her temperature gradually went back to normal. She was given fluids to re-hydrate. When the kitten regained enough strength, she began to meow.

The kitten was in need of a foster home. Nathalie from the clinic reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montréal and asked if they could help her.

The rescue group said "yes" without hesitation. That night, Nathalie transported the kitten to her foster home, and she was named Maddy.

"I know you are in pain, little baby. Everything will be alright," Nathalie said to the kitten.

"She was very fragile but she is a fighter," Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared with Love Meow.

Maddy was a challenging case. She had a wound near her tail due to worms, and she had been battling with ulcers in her mouth, calicivirus, and a urinary tract infection.

"Given how tiny she was, the kitten is nothing short of a miracle. We wonder how she managed to survive. She's a little fighter," the rescue said.

Despite it all, Maddy has a great appetite. "She eats like a little piglet, which is very encouraging to see."

A week after her arrival, she had doubled her weight and began to run around the house like she owned it. She was getting stronger and more playful each day.

"She is breathing well and eating like a champ."

Maddy is still much smaller for her age but her belly is big and full.

"She loves to play and is always curious about what her humans are doing, now that she sees better. She will ask for attention and doesn't want to be alone."

The little fighter is on her way to a full recovery.

"Maddy (now 7 weeks) is very attached to her foster mom, knowing that she finally has someone to take care of her. She talks to her a lot and calls for her if she wants attention."
