A young man not only saved a woman's life from being drowned in a sinking car, but went back to save her dog's.

The torrential rain caused record high flooding in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Three men were in a boat when they came across a woman trapped in a sinking car. As the woman cried for help, one of the men, David Phung, jumped into action and asked for a knife so he could cut the soft top of the convertible open.

He then hopped on the car while it was quickly sinking, then reached in the vehicle and pulled the woman out through the top.

By then the car was completely submerged into the flooded waters.

"Get my dog, get my dog," the woman pleaded frantically.

The man tried to feel inside the submerged car, but couldn't find the dog, so he went underwater to reach into the car. Just as people in the boat thought they lost the dog...

"I got your dog," he exhorted.

Phung got the woman and her beloved dog to the safety of the boat. What a hero!
