A gentle senior Persian cat survived being hit by a car and made a full recovery. Despite facing hard times, this sweet and fluffy survivor keeps his tongue peeking out with a funny, unimpressed look on his face.

Thomas came into rescue most frighteningly. He had been hit by a car, and against every expectation, he survived. Hurting and in desperate need of help, he landed in exactly the right hands, and his fosters at AMA Animal Rescue out of Brooklyn, NY, set about giving him the round-the-clock care he needed to begin healing.
His road back held more twists than anyone expected. While Thomas was mending from the accident, his veterinary team found a growth in his mouth that needed surgery. It was another hurdle for a boy who had already been through so much, but his fosters never wavered. They saw him through the procedure and stayed right beside him, and true to his spirit, Thomas pulled through again, the growth removed and that hurdle safely behind him.
Through all of it, the steady devotion of his caregivers carried him. They tended his wounds, comforted him through surgery, watched over his healing, and made sure this gentle soul always felt safe. Nursing a cat back after that much trauma takes patience and an enormous amount of heart, and his fosters gave every bit of it.

More recently, Thomas was diagnosed with liver cancer. While there is no cure, his caregivers have chosen to focus on what matters most now: keeping him comfortable, happy, and surrounded by love for as long as they can.
The good news is that Thomas is doing beautifully. He shows no signs of illness at all, enjoys an excellent quality of life, and acts just like any other happy, contented cat. The only thing he needs each day is a simple liver supplement. Otherwise, he spends his time doing exactly what he loves, lounging, relaxing, and soaking up affection.

His caregivers and his veterinarian are committed to making every day ahead as comfortable and full of joy as possible.
Until then, there is so much life and love still ahead for him. Now that he has been nursed back to health and is feeling wonderful, this sweet boy, neutered and fully vetted, is ready to find a family of his own.

And what a companion he is. "Thomas is a beautiful senior Persian with the sweetest soul and the softest fur. His life hasn't been easy, but he has never given up," AMA Animal Rescue shared with us. He is calm, affectionate, and happiest lounging right by your side, perfectly content to be near his favorite person, the very tip of his tongue peeking out whenever he drifts off to sleep.
His most endearing feature might be his wonderfully expressive face. "He always looks either slightly confused or like you've done something so embarrassing that he's quietly judging you for it," the rescue told LoveMeow. Those goofy, soulful looks are guaranteed to make anyone smile.

Thomas has always been happiest somewhere calm and unhurried, a soft bed, a warm lap, a quiet room where nothing asks too much of him. "I'm looking for an adopter who can provide a comfortable, loving, and quiet home," his foster shared. In a setting like that, he is perfectly, contentedly himself.
He has learned to savor the good things such as a warm lap, a sunny spot, and someone nearby, and he gives back gentle, undemanding affection in return.

Thomas has survived more than most cats ever face, and through it all has never lost his gentleness. Today he is feeling wonderful, soft and sweet, and wearing the look of a cat who finds the whole world slightly beneath his standards. There isn't a home out there that this tender-hearted cat won't make a better place.
