A kitten found the perfect friend to lean on after he was rescued from life on the streets.

Chatons Orphelins Montréal, an animal rescue from Montreal, Canada, came across an urgent request about a stray kitten found outside all alone.

"A Good Samaritan rushed to find him and got him off the streets in the middle of the night. The next day, our volunteer brought him to safety with us," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared with Love Meow.

"He was barely two months old, very scared, thin underneath all the fluff and covered in dirt, fleas and ticks. We named him Pegaz."

The kitten received the medical attention that he desperately needed. After a rough start to life, he was finally clean, pain free and even discovered his purr. Pegaz also bounced back from an upper respiratory infection and began to put on weight.

Clarisse, a foster volunteer of the rescue, opened her home to the shy kitty and reassured him that he was safe. With a comfortable and quiet place to stay, the little ball of fluff started to come out of his shell.

"He was still very tiny but full of energy. He sought attention from his foster mom and always wanted to play," Celine shared.

Pegaz quickly adapted to life as an indoor cat and was eager to have a constant companion. The little guy needed a friend, and they knew just the perfect buddy to introduce him to.

A week before Pegaz's arrival, another kitten named Milan was brought to the rescue for a chance at a better life. The kitty arrived at his foster home with Clarisse and made it his mission to never be alone again.

Milan quickly blossomed into a rambunctious cat. He would go around looking for new things to play with or places to explore. He was never tired of demanding attention from his people and wouldn't take no for an answer.

"We decided to introduce the two singletons. Within 24 hours, they formed an inseparable bond. They are like brothers from different mothers."

The two kittens were so close that they were joined at the hip. They followed each other around and did everything together as a duo. Milan quickly took on the role as the big brother, and Pegaz grew more confident having his buddy around.

"Pegaz is shy and likes to stay behind Milan every time they enter a new place," Celine said. "They have been by each other's side since day one. They do everything together and follow each other all day long."

Milan keeps an eye out for his little brother and encourages him to play with new toys. Pegaz leans on him for comfort and looks to him for ideas for new antics.

When they ask their humans for attention, they'd come clamoring together, singing their cute little duet. The two demand to be cuddled as a pair so no brother will be left behind.

"They get along so well as if they have been together since birth," Celine added.

"They are curious about everything and enjoy exploring and discovering things as a pair. They stay close to their humans and want to know what they are doing all the time."

Knowing how strong their bond is, the rescue wanted to find them a loving home together.

After weeks of anticipation, the kittens finally had their dream come true. Earlier this month, Pegaz and Milan moved into their forever home together.

Pegaz followed his brother's lead as they explored their new abode as one.

"They found a great home. We are so happy that they get to continue their journey together."
