A kind-hearted woman has built a "cat ladder" for the homeless cats in her neighborhood. It leads into her home, so the kitties can climb in through the window for warmth and food during the harsh winter cold.

Şebnem Ilhan, a dentist in Tekirdag, Turkey, has a big heart for homeless animals and tries to offer help every time she sees one. To her, these furry friends are like family.

"It is very cold here this winter. My housekeeper and I are living in the warmth. I was sad and worried about the cats outside," Ilhan told Love Meow.

As temperatures dropped, she knew that she had to do something to help the kitties cope with the weather.

So she opened her home to them!

Ilhan came up with an idea by creating a little stairway in front of her window leading into her home. She decorated it with flowers so it would look inviting to the neighbors.

The ladder is approximately two meters long where the cats can enter her comfortable house through the opened window and be protected from the cold.

She has made part of her house a safe haven for the stray cats.

When she's not working, she spends most of her time with the stray animals, feeding and caring for them, so they can have someone to depend on.

"I try to help all the animals that I can find as much as I can," Ilhan told Love Meow.

So far, around 10 stray cats have made their way into her home through the "cat ladder", and the number is increasing.

Ilhan continues her mission to help stray animals throughout her city.

"I don't think I have done much at all. I try to make a difference for the animals that I touch and see," Ilhan said. "This world is not just for us people."
