Bungie and Obama two beautiful cats may look like many other 4-legged furry friends, but they are heroes who have helped save the lives of many cats who were once on the surgical table.
They are "blood brothers" who donated their blood to other cats in need.
Bungie and Obama just retired last December from the blood donor program at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Toronto.
They gave blood "every six to eight weeks while under anesthesia, the clinic estimates that each cat saved 10 feline lives over a year of service."
The two share space with cat Oliver, 7, who arrived in 2004 from a family friend who was moving into a nursing home. Clark and Seymour wanted a companion for Oliver and adopted Scaramoosh the same year from the Toronto Humane Society. When Scaramoosh required a blood transfusion due to kidney failure, the couple inquired about his "blood brother," who turned out to be Bungie. When they met "the big sensitive Bungie," they were also taken with Obama and decided to foster both, says Clark.
