A kitten survived being dragged by a dog when she was barely two pounds, and now, safe with the rescuers who pulled her through, she purrs and kneads the moment a kind hand cradles her.

Quinn is one of Alley Cat Rescue's newest arrivals in Mount Rainier, MD, and the road that brought her to safety was anything but gentle. As a very young kitten, out on her own and far too small to defend herself, she crossed paths with a dog.
The details are hard to hear. "She was rescued off the street in very bad condition, she was dragged by a dog," Alley Cat Rescue shared with LoveMeow. The injury to her back leg was severe, and for a kitten so young, the odds looked frightening.
Against them, Quinn held on. What she needed next was the kind of round-the-clock care only a committed rescue and vet team could give, and they were ready to give her every bit of iTinyt.

At the time, Quinn was heartbreakingly small, weighing under two pounds. Her vet wanted to give her the very best chance, so the first plan was to start her on medication and let her gain a little strength before any operation.
Her caregivers watched over her around the clock, but the injured leg took a turn and became badly infected. To save her life, the vets made the difficult decision to remove it, and Quinn came through the emergency operation with the hardest part of her young life finally behind her.

From there, the change in her grew more beautiful by the day. Surrounded by people who handled her with nothing but tenderness, Quinn began to learn that the world could be a safe and gentle place after all.
"Quinn is now recovering and learning to love, and what it is like to be loved," the rescue shared. A little braver each day, she started to trust, to settle, and to take in all the affection her caregivers had to offer.

That steady kindness is exactly what she needed. "Every person she meets treats her gently, and we see her feeling more confident each day," the rescue shared.
Even wrapped in a recovery cone while her body mends, Quinn has taken each new day in stride, meeting the fuss and the checkups with the patience of a much older cat.

Part of that mending is measured in ounces. Regular weigh-ins track every gram she gains, and with each one, her caregivers watch a fragile baby turn into a stronger, steadier little cat. Her missing leg does not slow her spirit for a moment. Kittens like Quinn adapt with astonishing grace, and in time she will run, climb, and play like any other cat.
The sweetest moments are the ones her rescuers hold onto. When Quinn rests her small face in a warm, waiting hand, a soft purr rumbles up from her body, and she kneads happily as she settles in.
