Skippy the kitten is a little different from other cats. He stands up on his hind legs like a kangaroo. This black and white kitten is just as comfortable walking on his back legs as all four.

He was born without a bone in his forelimbs meaning hopping on his hind legs feels natural. "His legs have developed to compensate for that... so he often stands up like a little meercat or a kangaroo," said Nicholas Taylor, animal care and adoptions manager. "Hence, Skippy."

Skippy's condition doesn't cost him pain. "We're very confident that he's all good, that it's just more of a visual thing for us," Taylor said. But for Skippy, he has no idea that he's got something different.

He has been passed through a number of homes and eventually ended up at Wellington SPCA. They are looking for a perfect home for Skippy.
