Reese is an orange cat with a snaggle tooth, a face that looks permanently offended, and a deep conviction that every bag, purse, and pocket in the room is hiding a treat with his name on it. After landing back at his rescue for a second time, he has finally won over someone who saw all of that and chose him anyway.

Reese's history with the rescue goes back a few years. He first came to Orphans of the Storm in 2021 as a stray kitten from Mundelein, Illinois, and it was not long before he was adopted into a home of his own. He spent nearly five happy years there until, at the end of August and through no fault of his own, he was returned when his family's circumstances changed.
Coming back after so long could have been a sad chapter. Instead, the team at Orphans of the Storm, a no-kill shelter in Chicago's northern suburbs that has been finding homes for animals since 1928, was overjoyed to have this remarkable boy in their care again. They knew exactly how special he was, and they set out to find him a loving home for the second time.
And what a personality Reese has. "He is seriously one of the most fun, quirky, and sweet cats," Orphans of the Storm shared with LoveMeow. He is wonderfully curious and just a little nosy, certain that every bag in the room might be hiding a snack meant for him.

His investigative habits became the stuff of legend around the shelter. A purse was something to climb into. A bag had to be checked. A coat pocket was deeply suspicious and worth a thorough search.
And the moment something crinkled, that was as good as a search warrant for this determined little detective. When he was not busy going through someone's belongings, he was happy to play, eat well, and stretch out to enjoy the good life.

Then there is the famous tooth. Reese's snaggle tooth is exactly the way it is meant to be, a perfectly healthy little quirk, and it makes his already expressive face impossible to look at without laughing.
The tooth is only half of it. Paired with an expression of lofty, dignified disapproval, it gives Reese a look entirely his own. "Despite looking like a tiny man who has been inconvenienced for the last time, Reese is actually the sweetest, most affectionate guy," the rescue shared.

Anyone who spent even a minute with him knew the truth. He loved attention, adored his people, and made wonderful company, and he just happened to wear a face that suggested otherwise.
The shelter shared his story far and wide, celebrating his nosy antics and his one-of-a-kind face, and hoping the right person would look past the grumpy little mug and see the treasure underneath.

And then, while his story was still making the rounds, the best possible thing happened. Reese, the little snaggle-toothed menace who looked perpetually offended and needed to know what was inside every purse, bag, and pocket, was officially adopted.
In the end, a family looked at that gloriously grumpy face, that endless curiosity, and that heart of pure gold, and decided he was exactly the cat they wanted, snaggle tooth, offended expression, nosiness and all. "Somebody actually saw all of that and said, 'Yep. I want that one,'" the rescue shared.

After everything, the cat whose expressions suggested he was always moments from filing a complaint had won someone over completely, exactly as he was. The team that welcomed him back, cared for him, and loved him through his second search had finally seen him off to the home he so richly deserved.
Reese now has a family of his own, a whole new house to inspect, and an entirely new set of people to inconvenience.
