A 90 year-old man was so relieved when his two 13-year-old cats that he saved from birth, found a wonderful home together to spend their golden years as he could no longer care for them.

Meet Phoebe and Fluffy!

The two sisters came to Purrfect Pals Cat Shelter, a rescue group in Arlington, Washington, because their 90-year-old life-long human dad could no longer care for them.

Over a decade ago, a neighborhood stray showed up pregnant on the doorsteps of a couple's home. The kind-hearted man brought her inside so she could have a safe place to have her babies. After the kittens were born, the lovely couple kept the momma cat and her three kittens so they could grow up and grow old together.

"Fluffy and Phoebe lived with them all their life and the father even kept the 13 year-old girls with him in assisted living for three years after his wife passed away," the rescue told Love Meow.

Eventually it reached the point where he could no longer look after his beloved cats. He wanted them to find a good home so his family brought the sisters to Purrfect Pals for help.

Initially, the rescue was told that the two seniors were not bonded. In order to increase their odds of getting adopted quickly, they were separated to meet potential adopters but soon they realized that the kitties needed each other to thrive.

"Once separated, they were scared and shy, and Fluffy became depressed and was not eating well," the rescue said. "Happily, Larissa and Rodrigo took them both home to foster. Soon after being reunited, the kitties ate dinner together, after which Fluffy bathed Phoebe, while purring non-stop."

Older cats aren't as easy to find homes as the adorable young furballs. Getting two seniors adopted together is challenging, but the rescue was determined to do whatever is the best for the two girls.

After waiting for a period of time, a wonderful family came to the rescue and fell in love with the sisters.

"They are loved to pieces and doing great! Now known as The GoldenGirls, Blanche (Fluffy) and Sophia (Phoebe), the girls have adjusted well in their home and are thriving, helped by all the love two 7 year-olds, two 15 year-olds, and two adult humans can give," Purrfect Pals told Love Meow.

Blanche grooms Sophia several times a day and the sisters snuggle between their human mom and dad every night.

"We just love them and are so happy to have them in our family. All my pets have been rescues, this is the first time I've adopted a pair. It's wonderful," Bunny, human mom, said.

"I wake up every morning with Blanche curled up on me. Best adoption ever!"

"Blanche and Phoebe's former owner was thrilled to hear the girls were adopted together and expressed his gratitude to Purrfect Pals and their new family for giving them a second chance and a sweet retirement home.

"We are happy to have helped give their first family the peace of mind of knowing the girls are safe and well loved. We are also pleased to have been part of getting Blanche and Phoebe home with their new family and on to their next adventure."
