A man went out for lunch but came back with a kitten in his arms. He couldn't walk away from the tiny cat who needed help.

Ryan Mays and his coworker stopped for lunch at a Culver's a few days ago, never expecting their day would lead to saving a tiny life.
As they headed back to their trucks, his coworker spotted a little bundle of fur in the parking lot. "He pointed out a kitten walking towards us. The kitten came right up to me, only a few weeks old, looking for someone to protect her," Ryan shared with Love Meow.
"I picked her up and decided to call my friend Stephanie at Sparkle Cat Rescue to see if she could help."

The parking lot was full of cars and traffic—no place for a young kitten. Stephanie Grantham, president of Sparkle Cat Rescue, immediately offered to help. Within ten minutes, Ryan had the kitten, Anastasia, or Ana for short, safely in Stephanie's care.
"She's very clean, healthy, and social," Stephanie told Love Meow. "She probably hitched a ride under a car, unless she was abandoned there."

Though Ana wasn't thrilled about the cat carrier, she was instantly curious about her new surroundings. She crawled into Stephanie's lap, climbed onto her shoulders, and pressed her tiny face against her as if to say thank you.
From the start, Ana made it clear she wanted to be held and wasn't taking no for an answer.

Stephanie happily obliged and spent some time cuddling Ana, assuring her she was safe.
Not even an hour later, Cindy, one of the rescue's dedicated volunteers, stepped up to foster Ana. Even though she already had two other foster cats, she didn't hesitate to make room for one more.

At just five weeks old and a little over a pound, Ana was fluffy as a cloud and full of affection. While waiting to meet her foster mom, she perched on Stephanie's shoulder, surveying the world with wide eyes.
No one from the public came to claim her, but little Ana was finally safe indoors.

After a whirlwind of a day, Ana curled up in her new bed and drifted into a well-deserved nap. "Cindy told me she went right to sleep as soon as I passed her along. It had been a very busy hour for Ana."
Later that day, Ana woke up refreshed, ready to show off her playful spirit.

"She's tiny but feisty. After she ate a good meal, she took a long, hard nap," Cindy shared with Love Meow.
Ana quickly discovered toys, pouncing and wrestling with them as if she were ten times her size. Though still tiny and mostly fluff, she was fearless and adventurous, exploring every corner of her new space and claiming it as her own.

Ana has a lot of growing to do before she's ready for adoption, but what she lacks in size, she makes up for in personality.
In just a few days, she has blossomed into a cuddly, confident little teddy bear.

Ryan, a longtime supporter of Sparkle Cat Rescue, never expected a lunch break to end with a kitten in his arms. Now, he can rest easy knowing that Ana is in good hands, loved, and has a bright future ahead.
