No one knew if this kitten would make it through her first night after she was found all alone, but she kept on fighting.

A woman from Montreal, Canada spotted a tiny kitten lying on the sidewalk, motionless. As she went to check on the kitty, she moved and was breathing faintly.

"The lady was very surprised to see that the kitten was alive. She couldn't leave her there and immediately brought her to a veterinary clinic," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal told Love Meow.

The kitten was just skin and bones, dehydrated and covered in fleas. She was cold to the touch and had to be warmed up. At four weeks old, she weighed only 300 grams.

With help from the veterinary team, her body temperature finally returned to normal.

They continued giving her fluids to keep her hydrated, treating her wounds and started her on antibiotics. She was still very fragile but would meow to seek attention whenever someone was nearby.

Nathalie, who works at the clinic, reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montréal as the kitten desperately needed a foster home.

"She did everything she could to help her and transported the kitten to her foster home in the middle of the night so she could have a safe place to stay."

They named the kitten Maddy. She made it through her first night and began to perk up.

"She was very skinny when she arrived and couldn't regulate her body temperature, so she was on a heating pad to help keep her warm," the rescue said.

"She came in such poor shape with a list of illnesses. It's a miracle that she survived."

She had a great appetite despite having trouble gaining weight. She kept eating to her heart's content.

"Maddy became very attached to her foster mom who kept her close and cared for her around the clock. It saved her life."

Maddy demanded constant attention and cuddle time. She wanted to know everything her human was doing and followed her around the house.

"She will cuddle with us as soon as we pet her. She always wants to be close," the rescue said. "If we're on the computer, she stays nearby."

Maddy has blossomed into quite the cuddle-bug.

If the bathroom door is closed, she would protest with a flurry of meows or guard outside until the door is open.

"Maddy was brought to us, nearly dead. She wouldn't have been here today without all the people who have fought to save her and care for her," the rescue said.

At four months old, Maddy finally found her forever home.

"She is starting a new life with a perfect family to share her cuddles with," the rescue said.

Happy and loved!
