This one-eyed kitty purred up a storm and dropped his head into his rescuer's hand the moment they took him out of the pound.

Mikey the ginger had an eye infection that his previous family could not afford to fix. After his infected eye ruptured, they surrendered him to the pound. "Animal Control removed his eye right away," CARF told Love Meow.

Time was ticking for little Mikey. He needed help, and he needed a home.

When the kind folks at The Critical Animal Relief Foundation (CARF, in Chicago, IL) learned about this little ginger's ordeal, they immediately sought help to spring the little guy out of the pound.

A kind couple offered to pick up the kitten and transport him to the rescue group. "When we got to the city pound to pick him up he already had on the cone and they had done a little work on his eye," FennelSoup said.

Little Mikey was so happy when they were there to help him. "He was so gentle and purring the moment we got him out."

"He was so tiny, but in great health.

"He never once used his claws or tried to get away or struggle, he was so gentle and immediately dropped his head into my hands looking for rubs."

CARF found the little guy a foster home with three canine friends and a feline buddy to play with.

"He's on antibiotics and pain meds and is healing well."

They gave Mikey a cat bed, but he had another idea...
