A tabby cat is so happy to be reunited with her only kitten after she was brought back from the brink.

A pregnant cat found herself in a difficult situation when her family no longer wanted her. A 12-year-old girl saw what happened and offered to take the cat, so she wouldn't end up on the streets in the middle of winter. With the help of a neighbor, they were able to find a rescue to take her in.

The tabby cat was about 1-2 years old and heavily pregnant. Sylvie, a volunteer of Chatons Orphelins Montréal (a cat rescue in Montreal, Canada), responded to their plea and immediately drove to pick up the cat.

The sweet feline named Gisel quickly warmed up to her Foster Mom Stef when she realized that she was safe.

"Gisel trusted her foster mom right away, and spent most of her time sleeping after she arrived," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal told Love Meow.

A few days later, the cat went into labor, and soon it became apparent that she needed help. Sadly, only one kitten made it through the difficult birth, and Gisel had to be sent to the hospital when she began to decline.

Gisel had an emergency surgery due to a severe bacteria infection in her womb. She perked up after the life-saving procedure and started kneading away and purring up a storm.

While the cat mom was recovering at the hospital, her single kitten, Pruno, was being bottle-fed around the clock.

The kitten was so tiny but had a big voice, a voracious appetite, and a strong will to live. He latched onto the bottle like a champ and gulped down the food till he finished the last drop.

He was the first baby born and the only survivor of his litter.

Despite not having his mom with him at the time, Pruno managed to put on weight by eating to his heart's content.

After the long ordeal, Momma Gisel returned home and was ready to be back with her baby.

"She is on several medications to treat her infections, so her milk is not safe for the kitten," Celine told Love Meow.

Pruno is being hand-reared by Foster Mom Stef every two hours around the clock. "To make sure that he gets a mother's love and the care he needs to thrive, Gisel has donned a bodysuit to prevent the kitten from nursing on her."

When the momma cat was reunited with her baby, she immediately started grooming him. "They recognized each other straight away. It was the sweetest thing," Celine shared with Love Meow.

With the onesie, Gisel can safely snuggle with her baby while providing the care that no human can replace.

She is so happy to wrap her arms around her only kitten and constantly smothers him with love.

The baby tabby is thriving with help from his foster mom who keeps him fed, and tender loving care from his doting cat mom who does the rest.

Mama Gisel keeps a watchful eye on her precious baby and makes sure he gets bathed on a regular basis. She enjoys making biscuits on her blankets while rumbling with her adorable purrs.

There's no shortage of hugs for her little baby.

Pruno just turned 11 days old today, and opened his eyes to see for the first time.

He's starting to use his little legs to stand and waddle, and getting very curious about his surroundings.

The mother and son duo will never have to spend a day on the street, and Gisel has so much love for her little pride and joy.
